A bunch of the members on DPChallenge are doing another PAD. This time the theme is "Slice of Life" where as we are to take a shot of something we do from day to day. We are to go outside our comfort zone...I've never had a comfort zone so no telling where this will go. You may just see a lot of satirical IT type shots in this one.

Day 10 - They're Here
It just so happens that work is directly in the flight path (several miles away from but at the end of the runway) of the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station (the one featured in the movie Top Gun) . During the airshows and practice the planes bank right over the building. In the past we had the Blue Angels, this year for the first time we get the Thunderbirds. This afternoon the Thunderbirds arrived.
Day 11 - C-130
The planes are flying in for the Airshow and many are making their practice runs now. The skies are alive with activity, the buildings shake, car alarms are going off all around. I love this time of year.
Day 14 - Julian apple pie days.
It's apple pie days in Julian, and when in Julian it would be a sin to stop by and pick up a couple pies from the best apple pie maker in the world...
Personally I'm a pumpkin pie kind of guy but hey they make a pretty darn good pumpkin pie as well.
I borrowed (my) Mom's Canon EFS 60mm Macro and wandered around the shop.
Day 15 - It can't rain all the time.
Pit stop in between Julian and the Laguna Hills Rendevouz. Pouring rain, all the camera equipment getting wet. We must be nutz.
Day 16 - Mountain Man
Or a question on thirds. For the "Rule of thirds" buffs out there; Does one crop this shot leaving room in the direction the man is walking or does one crop leaving room in the direction he is looking. As cropped here the man appears to be looking out of the frame.
Day 17 - (Like a) Boat on the water.
The Styx song that everyone has heard but no one knows the name of it.
Day 18 - Back in the Saddle again...well almost
Still a little under the weather, but the show must go on...
Note to Self: Self, never leave your camera across the room from you.
You know when you are in a customer service role you have to have the happy face all the time and be nice to the end users. You have to make them believe that you like actually them, which causes them to believe they can come into your house and start touching your stuff...ew... they will pick up your camera and procede to take a shot of you. Like you gave them some kind of ok or something.
Notice here how this user cut my hands off. Can't even take a good shot. Get out of my store, No IT help for you.
j/k - I had the 100-400mm on the cam and there was no way he was getting all of me.
Also note: Most of my peeps are good peeps, just a couple are more needy than others.
Day 19 - An IT Archeological Goldmine
Sheesh, what is this place? I haven't been in here for years... The MPoE (Minimum Point of Entry) aka DMarc (demarcation point) as we call it.
You know how ATT leaves yellow pages on your doorstep, the ones that no one uses, well this is like your door step. Vendors drop Circuits and Phone lines here and then we are supposed to do something with them.
No one ever uses existing lines, can't be using soiled lines don't you know...so we get new lines brought in. No one ever removes their lines when they leave either, let the next guy clean this mess up...
...So imagine if you will 30 years of other peoples crap on this wall. Yes indeed, only about eight pairs of wires leave this room to my extended dmarc (another archeological dig) to control my entire site (phones/data). There are a couple 25pr that go into the ground but I haven't found where those go yet.
The funny thing is that there are live phone lines here (from past tenants) that somebody somewhere is (going to be) paying for and they don't know it yet...that bill will be a shocker when they finally track the co that the line belongs to.
You know I think I will clean this up...when I have time. :)
